Through the development of our relationship under the Small Business Administration (SBA) 8(a) Mentor Protégé Program, US&S, Inc. and E2 Consulting Engineers, Inc. are successful at delivering safe, efficient, low cost and reliable services to our customers as a prime-sub team. Approved in September 2011, the US&S and E2 Mentor Protégé Agreement (MPA) allowed intimate collaboration between the two businesses.

Our team established a Joint Venture (JV) under the terms of our SBA-approved MPA to provide customers with the full breadth and depth of our capabilities via a single, seamless entity. In addition to the organizational efficiency and cost-cutting benefits, this JV allows our customers to receive 100% small business credit for 8(a), minority, SDVOSB, and SDB classifications, while combining the full qualifications and past performances of both companies into an integrated Team.

As participants in the SBA 8(a) Mentor-Protégé Program, we completed a rigorous process designed by the SBA to identify the various types of support needed by US&S to succeed in their focus areas. As a Mentor, E2 is legally obligated to provide support outlined in the MPA and must track and regularly report progress toward these goals. Upon request, we provide copies of our MPA and our Tasks and Timelines. Our Team members remain in daily communication to assist ongoing support contracts and propose new work and have since 2010.

Whether our Team offers services through a JV or as prime-sub, our Mentor-Protégé relationship ensures the services delivered by our Team are fully integrated and seamless to our customers, providing a management structure with transparent boundaries. If our Team’s combined services do not fully satisfy the requirements of a particular procurement, our strong relationships with reputable large businesses and industry leaders assist us to ensure satisfactory results.  We routinely team with these experts on procurements of significant magnitude while remaining a fully integrated team.

US&S is a certified Small Business Administration (SBA) 8(a), Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) and Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB) founded in 2003 by retired Naval Commander Sylvester Richard Hagins. The foundation of US&S’s great reputation as a small business is built on the success of the facility support services it has offered since its inception. These services include security, renovation, janitorial and general maintenance services, which it delivers on time and on budget, with a focus on safety, quality, and customer service.

US&S expanded its initial business offerings to include a broader range of complimentary staff augmentation services. US&S supports institutional and federal clients, including Lockheed Martin, Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, LLC (SRNS), US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), and Department of the Navy.

US&S employees have a personal commitment to sustaining a culture of continuous improvement and customer satisfaction, while providing cost effective solutions and the best overall value for all stakeholders. In fact, US&S was named a “Lockheed Martin Outstanding Small Business” for 2011!
